From the original Masterpiece Models ‘Castle’ build, this stunning model of 5047 Earl of Dartmouth has been professionally weathered by Martyn Welch to create this highly realistic prortrayal of a well-cared-for, top link locomotive. It is for sale at £3,300.
New from Swindon in April 1936, 5047 was originally named Compton Castle. It was re-named Earl of Dartmouth in August 1936. The model represents the engine as it would have appeared in the 1950s with the BR 'loin-over-wheel' emblem when it was allocated to Newton Abbott and it carries the 83A shed plate. In 1957 it was transferred to Wolverhapton Stafford Road.
