Exceptional museum quality model locomotives for modellers, enthusiasts and collectors

45XX / 4575 2-6-2T

Now that only a few Masterpiece Models 45XX/4575 Prairie tanks remain available, we have photographed the entire stock.
All available engines are shown in the gallery below.

The numbering and livery is clear from the photographs and an explanation of the various types is given below. As of 19 March there are only 19 locomotives left. There are no Type 2 engines remaining, while there are only two Type 1 engines and two Type 4 engines. There is still a reasonable choice of Type 3 and Type 5 engines.

Two Type 3 engines (one BR black and one BR lined green) can be numbered as any Type 3 locomotive of your choice.

The liveries cannot now be changed, but there is VERY LIMITED scope to switch numbers if there is a particular engine that you want (easier with BR engines). It MAY also be possible to provide a particular engine in a choice of 0 gauge finescale or Scale7, although this involves switching bodies and chassis so can only be done where a chassis in the correct configuration for the body is available. We will try to accommodate specific requests but we must stress that this may not always be possible.

Standard fittings on all the engines include working inside motion, opening smokebox door with detailed tube plate, superheater header, blast jumper nozzles and inside steam pipes as required. Cab roofs are detachable to provide a choice of sliding hatch and different types of rainstrip, as well as making it easy to access the cab interior to fit a crew. We have working seats, sliding coal door, and opening firebox door.

4500 Series
There are many detail variations across the class, but by producing the four key options for the 4500 series set out in the table below, and taking advantage of sertain removeable components such as safety valve bonnets and rear sandboxes, most of the prototypical variations can be covered. It's important to check these details when selecting your chosen locomotive. A maximum of 75 models will be built.
